Fernhill Garden Care

A mown lawn with lavender borders in front of a stone cottage

Two of us, one van, and the same gardens every fortnight since 2014. Mowing, hedges, borders and the big tidy-up nobody in the house fancies doing.

What we do

Looking after gardens,
not landscaping them.

We’re gardeners, not a landscaping firm. No diggers, no patios, no big design drawings — just the regular, slightly unglamorous work that keeps a garden looking like somebody cares about it.

Regular maintenance

Every fortnight in the growing season, monthly through winter. Mow, edge, weed the borders, sweep up and take the waste with us.

from £38 a visit average back garden
  • Same day each fortnight, so you know when we’re coming
  • You don’t need to be in — a side gate is plenty
  • Cancel any time, no contract to sign

Hedges and shrubs

Beech, privet, laurel and the leylandii your neighbour has stopped speaking to you about. Cut to a line, sides and top, everything cleared away.

  • March to August we check for nesting birds first, always
  • Up to about four metres from the ground

Borders and planting

We’ll tell you honestly what will live in your soil and which corner is too shady for the thing you saw at the garden centre. Plants bought at trade and passed on at cost.

from £120 plus plants at cost
  • Spring and autumn are the right time — we’ll say if it isn’t
  • Bulbs, bare-root roses, pots by the door

New lawns and turfing

Old lawn off, ground levelled and raked, fresh turf down and watered in. Most back gardens are a two-day job and you can walk on it in a fortnight.

The honest bit

What a tidy-up actually looks like.

Below is a demonstration, not a real job: two different gardens, put side by side so you can see the sort of state we take on and the sort of state we hand back. When we’ve photographed a real garden of ours before and after, this is where it will go.

The sort of thing a one-off clearance starts from
A tidy cottage garden with a clipped hedge, mown grass and a picket gate After · demo
And roughly where a full tidy gets you to

To be straight with you: these are two different gardens, not one garden photographed twice. We’d rather say so than pass off a comparison that isn’t real.

How it works

Three steps, and no sales visit.

Nobody wants a man in a shirt sitting in their kitchen with an iPad. Most gardens we can price from a couple of photos and a five-minute chat.

1

Tell us what it needs

Tap a job above, ring, or send a photo of the garden. Whichever is easiest for you.

2

We come and look

Free, takes ten minutes, and you get the price in writing the same evening. No pressure to say yes.

3

Then we just turn up

Same day each fortnight. You’ll get a text the night before, and the waste goes with us.

“Jo has done our garden for four years and I’ve never once had to chase her. It’s the same Thursday every fortnight, the bin’s emptied, and the gate is always shut behind her because of the dog.”

“We inherited a jungle when we bought the house. Two days, three van loads, and we could actually see the fence. They talked us out of turfing until autumn, which saved us money.”

“Mum’s 79 and won’t let strangers in the house, but she makes Callum a cup of tea. That tells you everything. The borders have never looked better.”

Where we go

Bramfield, Fernhill and the villages between.

We keep the round tight on purpose — it’s how we get to every garden on the day we said we would.

If you’re a village or two further out, still ask — if we can’t fit you in properly we’ll say so rather than turn up late all summer.
